Since the establishment of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Court in 2018, Unicase has been among the first firms in Kazakhstan to advise clients on the AIFC law related matters and proceedings in the AIFC Court. Unicase represented Astana Solar LLP in ICC Switzerland arbitration proceedings against a French consortium, including CEIS, over critical contractual breaches in a photovoltaic module assembly project. The dispute involved complex technical issues around factory testing failures and was further complicated by a related pre- court criminal investigation.
Unicase represented Shenzhen Careall Investment Holding in complex litigation across all levels of Kazakhstan’s judiciary, including the Supreme Court, in a dispute over the forced re-registration of a subsoil legal entity. The case concerned the unlawful termination of a sale-purchase agreement for participatory interests and an unusual default judgment.
Unicase represented NBTC Limited, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed gaming corporation THE 9 Limited, in an arbitration dispute with a Kazakhstani company concerning the supply of mining equipment and claims for lost profit.
Unicase represented KazTransGas–Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline JV in a high-value EPC contract dispute before Kazakhstan’s judicial bodies, relating to claims under one of the country’s most strategic gas infrastructure projects supporting national supply and exports.

Represented BD Resources DWC LLC in the recognition and enforcement of a GAFTA Arbitration Award in Kazakhstan against a local agricultural company. The team led multiple court hearings and procedural strategy to secure enforcement of the foreign arbitral award under Kazakhstan’s civil and procedural laws.
Unicase provided pro bono legal support to the head office of Special Olympics Kazakhstan, addressing operational, governance, and compliance matters under the Republic of Kazakhstan’s non-profit legislation. This work supports the organisation’s resumption of operations under updated leadership and procedures.
