A deal worth US$8m, we advised Total Eren S.A. on the acquisition, construction, and operation of a 100MW solar power plant, M-KAT Green, in Kazakhstan. Following regulatory clearance, our team was engaged in the financing stage with EBRD and ADB back in 2018, which led to a successful partnership between the development banks in financing RE projects. M-KAT GREEN was co-financed using loans from Asian Development Bank amounted at 11.3 billion KZT (30.5 million USD) and a 21.5 billion KZT (58 million USD) from EBRD.

Our Team ran an extensive legal due diligence and analysed the Client’s ownership structure. We structured the project, agreements, and the documents necessary. The Team then negotiated the Project with 9 high-profile sellers in the course of 7 months. Following the project activities, the support was extended to drafting and negotiating transaction documents, largely complicated by the ownership structure of the target.

The 100-megawatt (MW) power plant resides near the town of Shu in the Jambyl Region, Kazakhstan, and covers 500 hectares.
