- Advised JCHX Mining Management Co., Ltd., the largest Chinese mining company, on obtaining the highest category of licenses for construction, development, production, acquisition, realisation and storing of pyrotechnic agents and products with its usage and a license for operation of mining and chemical productions. Also assisted with searching for a prospective target to invest in Kazakhstan.
- Advised on the regulatory framework of Kazakhstan’s real-time balancing electricity market, analysing its impact on renewable energy producers. The project examined market structure, the roles of key operators (KEGOC, KOREM, Single Purchaser), and obligations arising from new balancing and liability transfer agreements. The team also assessed investor protections under national and international law and engaged with market regulators to clarify compliance and investment implications for renewable energy participants.
- Advised a major Chinese renewable energy investor on the acquisition and development of a 206 MW wind power project – the largest renewable energy facility in Kazakhstan at the time. The work involved comprehensive due diligence, transaction structuring, preparation of EPC contracts, establishment of a local subsidiary, and obtaining antimonopoly clearance and all necessary permits. Conducted an in-depth review of Kazakhstan’s energy, investment, tax, land, and environmental laws to ensure regulatory certainty and strengthen the project’s bankability.
- Represented NBTC Limited, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed gaming corporation THE 9 Limited, in an arbitration dispute with a Kazakhstani company concerning the supply of mining equipment and claims for lost profit.
