Ayana Unerbayeva serves as Junior Partner and Head of the Tashkent Office with Unicase Law Firm, where her practice and professional expertise centers on mergers and acquisitions, domestic and international corporate finance, IPOs, private equity, joint ventures, corporate governance, restructuring and insolvency.

Applying high intelligence and effective project management techniques, Ayana interfaces directly with clients on matters relating to corporate legal issues, investments, and corporate vehicles to meet specific and demanding client needs and interests.

Prior to her experience with Unicase, Ayana has worked in international law firms, including GRATA, KPMG, AB Legal, where she advocated on behalf of clients with respect to mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and project finance deals across Kazakhstan. With this, Ayana has established a proven track record of aligning objectives and bridging communications with all parties in a given project to achieve desired results.

  • Advising EBRD and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in relation to development of the concept of “green economy” in terms of projects’ implementation in the renewable energy sector
  • Advising fast-growing operator of power assets on acquisition, construction and operation of a 100MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Kazakhstan.
  • Assisting TetraTech ES on implementing the USAID’s Power The Future (PTF) project on improvement of renewable auction mechanisms in Kazakhstan, a major 20 mln project for development of renewables in Central Asia
  • Advising Goldwind International Holdings Ltd. on acquisition of Zheruyik Energy 50 MW wind power plant
  • Advising IFC, EBRD and the Government of Kazakhstan on the concession project for the construction and operation of the Big Almaty ring road (BAKAD)
  • Advising leading global developer for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects on permits and licenses
  • Advising a Singaporean Holding on acquisition of 100% shares of the Netherlands company related to developing a 156 MW wind project in Kazakhstan under 5 PPAs.
