Beginning June 10, 2024, Kazakhstan is set to launch auctions for renewable energy sources in 2024. JSC "Kazakhstan Electric Energy and Capacity Market Operator," also known as "KOREM," has announced the Ministry of Energy's approval of the auction schedule for the year.
The schedule was approved by Order No. 105 of the Ministry of Energy dated March 7, 2024, "On Approval of the Schedule for Holding Auctions for the Year 2024," according to paragraph 3 of the Rules for the Organisation and Conduct of Auctions, which include qualification requirements for auction participants, the content and procedure for submitting applications, types of financial guarantees for participating in the auction and the conditions for their provision and refund, the procedure for summarising the results and determining the winners.
The auctions will occur in June, September, and November, collectively targeting a total installed capacity of 1,270 MW for the year. This capacity allocation includes 160 MW for solar power plants (SPP), 700 MW for wind power stations (WPP), 400 MW for hydroelectric power stations (HPP), and 10 MW for biofuel power plants (BioES). Interested parties keen on implementing renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan are cordially invited to participate in these auctions, spanning from June 10 to November 20, 2024.
