Developing innovative technological solutions for decarbonizing the industrial sector in Uzbekistan. Overview of energy and emissions intensive industrial subsectors in consultation with the Uzbek MOE, other stakeholders. Review energy consumption and CO2 Emissions by regions and subsectors. Identification and assessment of decarbonization technical solutions with most potential to decarbonize the industrial sector in Uzbekistan, including but not limited to, demand-side measures, energy-efficiency improvements, the electrification of heat with renewables, batteries, smart grid, digital solutions, factory energy management system (FEMS), the use of hydrogen as a feedstock or fuel, the use of biomass or waste materials as a feedstock or fuel (e.g. use of slags, used tires, and synthetic resin from waste in replacement of fuel for cement manufacturing), carbon capture and storage (CCS) or usage (CCU), and other innovations that utilize IoT, big data, and AI to monitor and optimize energy use. Conduct policy, regulatory and institutional analyses (including financing mechanisms and fiscal incentives) to identify gaps between what is required to decarbonize the industrial sector in Uzbekistan. Assessment in selected economic zones and decarbonization pathway to Eco-Industrial Parks. Development of a Roadmap to decarbonize the industrial sector including the action plans for Eco-Industrial Parks.
