Kazakhstan signed the Paris Agreement under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, dated 12 December 2015, on 2 August 2016 and ratified it on 4 November of the same year.

The Paris Agreement was a significant step in the fight against global climate change, as the world community showed its readiness to move to decisive action. According to the Paris Climate Agreement, low carbon development will become the main economic model. All countries, including Kazakhstan, have adopted national targets for limiting greenhouse gas emissions.
